Much like the rest of Los Angeles, I’ve gotten caught up in Kings fever as they steam their way closer to the Stanley Cup. As the bandwagon gets more crowded, it got me thinking about how you might be able to distinguish between the casual fan who only occasionally watches games and the bigger sports nut who religiously watches every game. Is there a question about a rule or some aspect of the game that you could ask someone to determine how big a sports fan that person is?
I’m specifically pointing out rules and not including fouls since they tend to be subjective to the referee (think about the blocking/charging fouls in basketball). So something more along the lines of the balk rule or infield fly rule in baseball or the icing rule in hockey, or perhaps the drop rule in golf. What kind of rules in other sports would only be known by the true sport fanatic?
